Fantasy scoring is out of this world in the first few few weeks of the season. Can these guys really hold on to these high averages? Just 3 years ago we saw Steph Curry be the only player to average over 30 fantasy points a game. Last year we had 5 and as of right now we have 9 this season. Now Whiteside and Myles Turner have only played one game and are both averaging 36 or more so we need more stats from them but they are both great players and should average well over 20s. Whiteside more then Tunrer of course, also Aaron Gordon is averaging 34 in only 2 games played, I see him more around a 18 average guy this season..... But I have noticed many players over scoring what ESPN and myself thought they would be doing. And there are few who are under performing and we will explore that as well. So lets get into it.....
Top Rookies and there AVG
Simmons 24
Ball 17
Tatum 17
Markkanen 16
J.Collins 16
Fox 15
Now I will be breaking players down into tiers. Starting with the most positive and ending with the not so fortunate on the year. You will be seeing there averages from last year first followed by this years averages. Sorry I left decimals out to make it look more clean.
***THE GOOD***
TIER 1
Average 2017----2018
Aaron Gordon 13-----34
Whiteside 26-----43
Myles Turner 19-----36
+17 or more
Tier 1 might be kind of a fluke since these guys have only played 4 games combined. But none the less, they are way above there scoring averages from last year.
-----------------------------
TIER 2
Average 2017----2018
GA 28-----41
D.Murray 3-----16
Poelti 5-----17
+12 or more
Here we see GA who is the MVP in the fantasy world at the moment. The other 2 guys were awful last year but are getting way more playing time now. And they are both owned.
-----------------------------
TIER 3
Average 2017----2018
Vucevic 20-----31
Sabonis 6-----17
Capela 17-----27
Oladipo 14-----24
Fournier 13-----23
Augustin 7-----17
+10 or more
In Tier 3 we start to see great trade candidates for sell high. Vucevic has been great when Gordon was out of lineup but Gordon is back now so look for Vucevic average to start coming down to earth... Capela has been one who is out of this world so far, twice he scored 40 or more. I would say sell high but if I owned Capela then I might hold onto him for a while... Augstin's production is solely reliant on Payton being out of lineup. He will regress and go back below 15 average sooner then later.... I could see Oladipo being a great sell high guy as well but he should avg around 18 to 20 a game this year. So for him to be at 24, could be great time to sell him.
-----------------------------
TIER 4
Average 2017----2018
Aldridge 18-----27
Collison 13-----22
Carroll 9-----18
Cousins 29-----37
Danny Green 9-----17
+8 or more
First thing I noticed on this tier was how high Aldridge is. With Leonard out of course Aldridge has to shine. But he is averaging 27 a game and I don't think he ever did that with the Trailblazers. Perhaps when Leonard returns we wont see too much regression from Aldridge after all... The biggest surprise on this tier has to be Carroll. Going from 9 to 18 is a shocker. He is no rookie and has been around for awhile. I was shocked to see he averaging 18. I doubt he keeps this up. TRADE TRADE TRADE!!!
-----------------------------
TIER 5
Average 2017----2018
M. Gasol 21-----28
Adams 15-----22
Hollis-Jefferson 11-----18
Porter jr 17-----23
T.Harris 15-----21
D.Russell 14-----20
Aminu 12-----18
Pope 12-----18
Stein 10-----16
+6 or more
We have reached the point of the write up were I think these players are just simply the ones who have improved and could stay on pace for what they are doing. I mean they might go down a little and I honestly do not see them going up much... Tobias Harris is the big surprise for me in this tier... Actually Aminu might not be able to keep up with his 18 average. Over the past years he is one of most used floaters around, so I see him getting down to about a 14 average on the year.
-----------------------------
TIER 6
Average 2017----2018
Kanter 16-----21
E.Gordon 12-----17
R.Jackson 12-----17
Nance jr 12-----17
Kaminsky 11-----16
Lebron 31-----35
Griffin 24-----28
J.Johnson 15-----19
R.Lopez 13-----17
Mucollum 19-----23
+4 or more
Big surprise on this one has to be James Johnson right? Or is it Kanter? either way, all these guys have bettered there average by 4 points or more on the year and should be held onto. Kaminsky is playing more minutes with Zeller out. So when he returns then I say its OK to drop Kaminsky, unless Howard gets hurt that is... I find it hard to come up with too much to say on this tier. These guys are just slightly better then last year and if you own them then you have done a decent job at adding players.
-----------------------------
***THE BAD***
TIER 1
Average 2017----2018
Leonard 25-----0
Butler 25-----13
Lowry 24-----14
Bledsoe 20-----10
-10 or more
Leonard has yet to play a game so that is why he is -25 so far. When he was drafted I don't think anyone knew he would miss anytime this year. Especially not the first few weeks... Butler has been banged up a bit as well but has not performed as well as owners would of hoped.... Unlike Bledsoe I really do not know what is going on with Lowry. But Bledsoe is waiting for a trade to happened before he gets back on court is seems like.
-----------------------------
TIER 2
Average 2017----2018
Harden 33-----24
Chris Paul 25-----17
P.George 22-----15
Millsap 20-----13
-7 or more
These players we honestly thought could have regression from last season. And with that said, why the hell did I draft Harden lol... But 3 of these guys are on new teams and one of them gained a super star to share the rock... These guys averages will most likely rise once they get settled in with there teams a little more.
-----------------------------
TIER 3
Average 2017----2018
Westbrook 35-----30
Jokic 25-----20
Conley 21-----16
Teague 19-----14
-5 or more
Just like the previous tier, 3 of these guys joined a different team or had players join there team. Give it time to see exactly what happens with these guys.... Conley though should be higher then he is already. So if you own him be a little scared. Gasol has picked up most of the fantasy scoring on that team and I am sure there will be nights that Conley will get his. But that team is featured around Gasol and I don't see Conley going up much higher then 18
-----------------------------
TIER 4
Average 2017----2018
Durant 30-----26
Wall 25-----21
Lillard 24-----20
B.Lopez 18-----14
-4 or more
The guys you see in this tier i would not worry about at all. Well maybe Lopez if you own him because he is averaging 14 a game and that is floater worthy, not own able long time worthy.... The other guys will be just fine. They are just barely below there averages. If you own Wall, Durant or Lillard be happy still.
INJURY'S
Hayward
Batum
J.Parker
I.Thomas
Lin
These players were all drafted but are now hurt for long period. Actually few of them drafted we already knew were hurt. Hayward and Lin are really the only 2 that got hurt during this season.
